Football
The Longhorn Football team lost Friday night to the Colts of Arlington High 34-31. The Longhorns will play Arlington Martin Friday, November 2, at 7:30 pm at Longhorn Stadium.
The Cedar Hill Longhorn Freshman Football White Team played against Arlington High last night at Longhorn Stadium. The Longhorns improved their record to 6-2 overall and 4-1 in district with the 38-6 win. The Longhorns offense continued its explosion from last week. Demarcus Jackson scored 3 rushing touchdowns and led the Longhorns in rushing yards while Terry Waters also scored a rushing touchdown from 20 yards out. Don Johnson also scored on a 26 yard touchdown pass from Brian Miller. 2 point conversions were scored by Kendrick Hurd, Dion Jackson, and Ronnie Davis. The defense was outstanding causing 4 turnovers. 3 fumbles, 2 recovered by Daniel Tackett and 1 by Sebastian Lawhorn, and 1 interception by Zack Fain. The Cedar Hill Longhorn Freshman Football White Team plays their final home game of the season next week on Thursday November 1st against Arlington Martin at 6:00 pm.
The Cedar Hill Longhorn Freshman Football Red Team played an exciting game against Arlington High last night at Longhorn Stadium. The Longhorn defense was stout all night long only giving up 6 points. Xavier Warren had a long fumble return at the end of the first half to end a scoring threat from Arlington High. The offense ignited in the 4th quarter with 2:25 remaining in the game. They started at their own 10 yard line and drove 90 yards after Damien Cannon converted a 4th and long to start the drive off. To end the drive Lovett Gibson received a pass from Damien Cannon in the end zone to tie the game at 6 a piece with only 18 seconds remaining in the game. The Longhorns failed to convert the 2 point play after a penalty and the game ended in a 6-6 tie. The Longhorns record moves to 4-3-1 overall and 2-2-1 in district. The Red Team will also play its last home game next week on Thursday November 1st against Arlington Martin at Longhorn Stadium kickoff at 8:00.
Cross Counrty
On Friday, Oct. 25th, the Cedar Hill Boy’s Cross Country teams competed in the 8-5A District meet held at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie. The meet was expected to be a good one with four teams battling out for the 3 spots to go to the 5A Region 1 meet held at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock. The Horns competed well having 2 runners finish in the top 10 and 3 in the top 15. They were led by junior Ben Allen who finished in 3rd place overall with the time of 17:10, also senior Samuel Lewis finished in 8th place with the time of 17:21. Junior Allen Bennett fell short of cracking the top 10 with his outstanding 12th place finish. The Longhorns finished in 3rd place with 78 points behind Arlington Martin who had 70 point and Arlington Lamar with 72 points. With their 3rd place finish, the Longhorns have earned the right to compete in the 5A Region 1 meet on Saturday, November 3rd for the 2nd straight year!
In the JV race, the Longhorns dominated from the firing of the gun to the finish line. They had 4 runners finish in the top 10 and 7 runners in the top 20. They were led by junior Justin Barnett who finished in 2nd place overall with the time of 18:31. He was shortly followed by Devin Patton (4th), Bryan Keese (5th) and Dane Hardy (7th) who finished with times of 18:39:20, 18:39:31, and 19:00. The team finished with an impressive 29 points and the District 8-5A Championship!
The Lady Longhorns competed in the District Cross Country Meet on Friday Oct. 26. The Varsity tied for 5th place with 107 points. They were led by REGIONAL QUALIFIER Sharne Glover with a time of 12:33. Sophomores, Paige Duggins and Meagan Washington, also ran their best times of the season placing 15th and 21st respectively. Freshmen, Aspen Riser and Kierra Hamilton also pointed for the Lady Longhorns.
The Junior Varsity team placed 2nd overall with only 49 points. We had three runners place in the top ten. Kathrin Bier placed 6th, Ashley Anderson placed 8th, and Chelsey Slay placed 9th. With no seniors on our squad, we have already set our goals for next year. Congratulations on a great season and GOOD LUCK AT REGIONALS SHARNE!!!
Golf
Congratulations are in order to Cody Crim who finished 1st. Place Medalist in the Burleson Big Red Invitational Golf Tournament held last Friday and Saturday at Hidden Creek Golf Course in Burleson. Cody shot a 71-79 for a two day total of 150.
Cedar Hill Men Golfers had their best yet showing of 651 total for the two day event. They finished in 5th. place out of a very strong field of 12 teams. CHHS was only 4 strokes out of third. Forth place had a total of 650.
Please congratulate the team members of: Cody Crim, Austin Keese, Ryan Harris, Kashif Johnson, and Donovan Sanders.
CHHS Ladies competed also in the Big Red Tournament which was their first tournament as a team. Three girls were competing in their first Varsity tournament. Congratulate these young ladies for competing and representing CHHS very well.
The team consisted of: Tabatha Lucero, Brittany Riewe, Megan Grimsley, Nikayla Waters, and Jalisa Jackson.
Please cheer them on as they Pursue Victory with Honor at Tenison Park Golf Course, in the Martin High School Invitational Tournament on Friday and Saturday 11/2-11/3.
Upcoming Longhorn Events:
- The Longhorn Football team will take on the Warriors of Arlington Martin, Friday, November 2 at 7:30 pm at Longhorn Stadium. The game will be aired on Time Warner Cable, Channels 185 and 960, Saturday at 4:00 pm, Sunday at 7:00 pm, and Monday at 12:00 pm.
- Saturday, November 3 at Mae Simmons in Lubbock, members of the Longhorn and Lady Longhorn Cross Country teams will compete in the 5A Region 1 Meet.
- Monday, November 19, the Cedar Hill softball team is hosting a benefit golf tournament at Mansfield National Golf Course beginning at 8:00am. Additional information is attached in the flyer.
- Saturday, November 3, Boys Basketball will scrimmage at Midlothian beginning at 9:00 am.
- Tuesday, November 6, Girls Basketball will play at Arlington Seguin at 6:00 pm.
