Volleyball
Friday, October 12, the Lady Longhorn Volleyball team improved their district record to 6-5 by defeating the Texans from Sam Houston in three games. Tuesday, October 16, the Lady Longhorn Volleyball team lost to Arlington High, making their district record 6-6. The Lady Horns are currently in fourth place in district with two games left in the season. They will play Arlington Martin at Martin High School, Friday, October 19 at 6:30.
Football
The Longhorn Football team improved their district record to 1-2 by defeating the Vikings of Arlington Lamar 20-9. The Longhorns will play Arlington Sam Houston for Homecoming Friday, October 19, at 7:30 pm at Longhorn Stadium.
Cross Counrty
On Friday October 12th, the Cedar Hill Boys Cross Country teams competed at the Ken Gaston Invitational which was held at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie. This site will be the host of our district 8-5A meet and as expected all but one team from the district was present. In the Varsity race, Samuel Lewis led all Longhorns with the time of 17:18 which was good enough for a 5th place finish. He was then followed very quickly by Allen Bennett (8th), Kayode Popoola (12th), Ben Allen (13th), and Kalvin Clark(16th) with times of 17:31, 17:46, 17:49 and 18:03. The team compiled an impressive 54 points en route to their 3rd meet championship of the year!
The JV team competed in a very competitive race which consisted of 20 teams from 1A to 5A classifications. The Longhorns had three individuals finish in the top 10 overall. They were led by Sophomore Bryan Keese who finished the race in 3rd place with the time of 18:50. Keese was being pushed by Juniors Caleb Collins (5th) and Justin Barnett (7th) who finished with times of 19:00 and 19:09. Other notable finishers were Dane Hardy and Orlando Rivera who rounded off the teams top 5 runners at 17th and 25th place. The team finished with an impressive 57 points which was good enough for 2nd place!
The Longhorns will be competing this Thursday, October 18th at the Annual Longhorn Invitational held at Valley Ridge Park. The first race (Varsity Girls) will begin promptly at 5 PM. Please come and cheer your Longhorn to victory as they compete in a field of roughly 40 schools.
Middle School Sports
On Monday, October 15 Permenter 7th grade volleyball traveled to Coleman. The Coleman B Team beat Permenter in two games to continue their unbeaten record. The Permenter A team won in three games.
On Monday, October 15, Permenter and Coleman 7th grade football played at Longhorn Stadium. The B team game went to Coleman, defeating Permenter 12-0. The A teams went down to the wire, tying 0-0.
On Tuesday, October 16, Permenter and Coleman 8th grade football played at Longhorn Stadium. The B team game went to Permenter, defeating Coleman 12-0. With each team winning one game each and tying one game, the trophy came down to the 8th grade A team game. Permenter was victorious in that game, winning 28-0 and keeping the trophy on their campus for another year.
Upcoming Longhorn Events:
- The Lady Longhorn Volleyball Team will take on the Warriors of Arlington Martin, Friday, October 19 at 6:30pm at Martin High School. They will conclude district play on Tuesday, October 23 at 6:30 vs. Duncanville at Cedar Hill High School.
- The Longhorn Football team will take on the Texans of Arlington Sam Houston, Friday, October 19 at 7:30 pm at Longhorn Stadium.
- The Girls and Boys Cross Country teams will be competing Thursday, October 18, at Valley Ridge Park at Lake Ridge at 5:00.
- Thursday, October 18, Permenter vs. Coleman 8th grade volleyball will begin at 5:30 in the competition gym at the High School.
