Volleyball

Tuesday, October. 2, the Lady Longhorn Volleyball team improved their district record to 4-4 by defeating the Volunteers from Arlington Bowie 3-1. The Lady Horns are currently tied for fourth place in district with six games left in the season.

Football

The Longhorn Football team lost to Arlington Bowie Friday night by the score of 57-42. The Longhorns will take on the Desoto Eagles Friday at Desoto. KTXA/Channel 21, a CBS owned and operated television station, will be broadcasting the High School Edge Game of the Week featuring Cedar Hill vs. Desoto on Friday, October 5th from 11pm to 2am. KTXA 21 will bring you the game from Desoto’s Ben Dial Stadium.

Cross Counrty

Saturday Sept. 29th the Lady Longhorns competed in the Ken Gaston Invitational in Ennis. The Lady Longhorns continue to improve as we chase our individual and team goals. As a team, we have improved over 29 minutes from week one to week 5. Every single athlete improved her personal best AGAIN.

The Varsity placed second overall scoring 65 points and beating Arlington Bowie. Our first 5 runners finished in the top 20. We were led by Sharne Glover (Junior) placing second overall with a time of 12:46. Also in the top ten was Freshman Aspen Riser who placed 9th with a time of 13:38.

The Junior Varsity placed 3rd overall while scoring only 106 points. They were led by Freshman newcomer Kierra Hamilton who placed 4th overall while running a 14:20. Sophomore Chelsey Slay placed 20th while finishing in 15:05.

We will compete again on Friday Oct. 12th at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie. This will be a great assessment for us since we will run district there on Oct. 25th and will likely see our entire District at that meet.

The Cedar Hill Boy’s Cross Country teams competed on Saturday Sept. 29th at the Ennis Lion’s Den Invitational. The Varsity team dominated the meet by having 4 runners finish in the top 10. They were led by Senior Samuel Lewis who was featured in the Monday, Oct. 1st edition of the Dallas Morning News as an Honorable Mention for the Boy’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week. He finished in 1st place with a time of 17:22 in a race that he led the whole way. Allen Bennett finished in 4th, Kayode Popoola in 7th and Ben Allen in 10th place. Other notables were Danny Blackburn who crossed the line in 16th and Sophomore Tommy Gould in18th. The team captured their second meet championship of the year.

The JV Boy’s completely dominated their race taking home 6 of the top 10 places. They were led by Junior Kalvin Clark who finished in first place with a time of 19:05; he too led the entire race. Bryan Keese finished right behind him in 2nd; Caleb Collins finished 3rd, Justin Barnett 6th, Freshmen Michael Ringer 7th, and also Freshmen Nick Jegstrup crossed in 8th. The team’s finished with an impressive 19 points, and nearly completing a 15 point sweep in route to their first meet championship.

Tennis

Longhorn tennis was defeated by Duncanville Tuesday, October 2. They will be competing on Tuesday, October 9 for an opportunity to play in the Regional tournament.

The Lady Longhorn Volleyball Team will take on the DeSoto Eagles, Friday, October 5 at 6:30pm in Cedar Hill.

The Longhorn Football team will take on the DeSoto Eagles, Friday, October 5 at 7:30 pm at Ben Dial Stadium in DeSoto.

The Varsity Boy’s will be competing Saturday, Oct. 6th at the Round Rock McNeil Invitational which is the site of the State Cross Country Meet.

The Cedar Hill Longhorn tennis team will play at Duncanville, Tuesday, October 9, 2007 – District Semi-final match – 3:00pm.
