In Memory of W.S. Permenter
March 1, 2007
I received this message today from Kim Lewis of the CHISD:
Sad greetings to all at the City and CHISD,Our great friend and former leader, W.S. Permenter, passed away yesterday afternoon near his daughter’s home in Virginia.Mr. Permenter was a life long educator who came to Cedar Hill in the fifties and topped off his career in education as our Superintendent from 1980 – 1985.He was also a very civic minded man who loved Cedar Hill. After retirement from the school business he later served as Mayor of Cedar Hill from 1987- 1991.Perhaps, though, most of us best remember him as a good friend and mentor, a man who loved the Lord and a man who was especially devoted to his wife, whom he affectionately called Miss Ann, and to his family.Arrangements are pending in Virginia, although we do know there will be a service here and that he will be buried at the Dallas / Fort Worth National Cemetery on Mountain Creek Parkway.I will send further details as they become available. Please remember Miss Ann, Nancy and the entire family.Kim Lewis
I’ve met Mr. Permenter on several occasions. Although I did not know him well, I do know the legacy he left in Cedar Hill. He will be missed.Update: Mayor Franke has issued an executive order to lower the City flag (not state or national flags) to half staff in honor of W. S. Permenter until his interment.
